03/01/09 - Need a Vacation? 11/28/08 - Check out the New Online Store - T-shirts now, much more later! Including personal artwork for sale!!!!!!! 11/10/08 - Interview with the King at "35 Years of Wrestling Royalty" 11/03/08 - A new update from the King! Hi everyone. I guess it's about time for a little update here on the site. First I'd like to thank and apologize to all the people who have written and asked for more recent updates. I'd like to tell you that I have been so incredibly busy doing things that are terribly important, that I just haven't had time to sit down at the computer and churn out an update, but the truth is more likely that I'm an unbelievable procrastinator!Sometimes I wonder how I get anything done when I find it so hard to get started. But really I have been pretty busy lately...I'll get into that in a minute, but the thing that is really taking up a lot of my time lately, is a MOVE!! Yep! After 26 years in the same house here in Memphis, I am actually moving. I'm sure a lot of you have gone through a similar ordeal, but I had no idea it could be so traumatic and of course, time consuming. I never realized how much stuff you could accumulate over 26 years! And, as some of you know I am a collector of memorabilia, (Coca-Cola, Superman, Disney, Cleveland Baseball and Football, and art and music) a hoarder, and just a pack-rat in general. I hate to throw anything away! So trying to sort through and decide what to take to the new place has been a huge headache. My girlfriend, Renee said, "Just keep the stuff you really want and get rid of the rest!" Problem is, I really want ALL of it or I wouldn't have had it to begin with! I'm finding out how stressful a move can be, and I hope our relationship can survive the ordeal. Right now I'm really bummed out about the Cleveland Browns loss today. It looked like they had the dreaded Ravens beat with a 14 point lead, but then they gave up 24 unanswered points and lost 37 to 27. I'm always in a really rotten mood for several hours after a Browns loss. Tomorrow RAW is in Tampa, Florida. It's a really nice arena in Tampa which makes the day a lot better. We are going to be doing some different things here on the website that I hope you will like. My webmaster, Alan Whitenton (who does a great job with no help from me) has added the Memphis Wrestling TV show to the site. The show airs every Saturday morning at 11am here in Memphis on MyNetwork 50. It also airs on the Fight Channel throughout Canada and in the United Kingdom. We are updating and creating a new "store" on the site where we will make available quite a few more things. New pictures, autographed of course, new T-Shirts, you will even be able to obtain one of the King's crowns!! Another thing I have been asked about over the years is my artwork. For the first time ever, we are going to offer limited edition, signed and numbered prints of some of my art. We may even take commissions to do original artwork for some people! So be sure and come back and check out or store...it's right around the corner! This coming Friday, November 7th, I will be wrestling against big Sid Vicious in Nashville, Tennessee. The event is being dubbed, "35 Years of Wrestling Royalty!" Promoter Bert Prentice is promising a big event with a lot of friends and co-workers of mine from over the years scheduled to be on hand. I know one of the other matches that night will feature Dangerous Doug Gilbert teaming with Grandmaster Sexay, Brian Christopher to take on the Moondogs with original Moondog Cujo! The show will be at the Nashville Fairgrounds Arena where I have wrestled probably a thousand times over my career, and you can find out more information on the event by going to www.LAWLER35.com Another appearance I am looking forward to is at the Old Hickory Mall in Jackson, Tennessee, on Saturday November 30th. I will be there from 1 to 5pm to sign autographs and take pictures with fans. So if you're in Jackson or nearby on the 30th come see the King at Old Hickory Mall!!! Well, I'm going to log off for the time being, but I promise more updates on a regular basis! See ya! 06/01/07 - Lawler defeats Hogan

On this day in .... 12/09/03 - King talks about the passing of Moondog Spot on WWE.COM Click Here for the WWE.Com interview 09/15/03 - King talks about HHH's Bachelor Party and Wargames From www.1wrestling.com - By Sir Adams In what has to be the most embarrassing episode in the history of GIR Radio, SD Jones dissed Sir Adam and the Phantom. What was worse is that Sir Adam scheduled Jones to be in the “Main Event” slot of the show, following the King Jerry Lawler. Even worse, Sir Adam made the brilliant decision to hang up on Lawler to call SD!! Lawler was in the midst of his greatest radio interview ever, and Sir Adam using no brains whatsoever goes ahead with the planned SD JONES interview! And SD is a no show. Check out more embarrassing GIR stuff at the World’s Worst Website www.getinthering.tv or tune in this Sunday at 7PM Eastern 540 AM WLIE, in NY or in streaming audio at www.wlie.com. -Lawler joins the show and talks football with Sir Adam, which is totally lost on Phantom. Phantom quickly brings up HHH bachelor party and how Sir Adam and he think Lawler would be the first guy on line at the party. Lawler disappoints GIR and says he won’t be making the bachelor party. Lawler asks the boys the details, because he didn’t even know about it. -Phantom calls Jerry Lawler a ratings magnet and how WWE calls on him every so often to wrestle. He also says he looked younger than Christian in their recent matchup to which Lawler laughed. Lawler thinks he should be asked to wrestle even more than he is now. Lawler says that Vince McMahon doesn’t mind him taking indy shots, but Lawler would love to be used on Heat or Velocity. He tells a story of a RAW house show in Memphis when he teamed with Shawn Michaels to take on Ric Flair and HHH, after the match HHH approached Lawler and said he wished Jerry would be wrestling with them for the whole week because “it was just so easy out there, and the crowd was so responsive.” Lawler thinks that it is the difference between old school psychology and how the wrestlers approach a match today. He doesn’t try and give the younger workers advice on career longevity, because when he was a rookie and veterans used to tell him things, he would never listen. “You have to learn for yourself, but there is a reason why guys have a 30 year career and why some guys get out of it early because of injury.” “….the main thing in wrestling is charisma, and has nothing to do with age.” Lawler continues to talk about storytelling matches vs. high spot matches, and how fans really respond to a good story. -Talk turns to MLW’s Wargames. Lawler says that Vince McMahon didn’t pull him out of the show. Lawler says he does so many indies and claims he was contacted by MLW, and never knew anything about them other than they were an Indy league trying to book him in St. Petersburg Florida. He accepted the booking and wrestled Terry Funk, never knowing that his match would air on Sunshine Network. He knew it was being filmed, but thought it was for videotape sales or for a local Florida cable channel, and didn’t think it would be available around the country via Direct TV/Sunshine Network. “JR called me and said someone brought it to (his) attention that they saw me on the Sunshine Network, and Vince told him that he knew I liked wrestling for independents, but he'd rather not have him wrestle on someone else’s TV. “ So Lawler called MLW to inform them that he would wrestle for them, only if his matches weren’t used on their TV. The MLW rep. (assuming it was Court Bauer) claimed to understand his predicament, but stressed that since he wasn’t told ahead of time, his TV was built around this Wargames match featuring Lawler. Jerry stood his ground, and feels he will work some shots in the future with MLW, just not for air on TV. -The boys bring up Lawler and JR vs. Al Snow and Coach at Unforgiven and Lawler says he’s looking forward to the match, but can’t picture RAW being hosted by the Heat crew. He said the cameramen don’t even watch the show when they commentate. Phantom brings up the period of time when Coach subbed for Jim Ross, and how it seemed that Lawler got legit ticked off at Coach several times. Lawler felt like Coach talked way too much during matches, and never let the action speak for itself. “Sometimes I wanted to just turn to him and slap him, and say slow down. This is not radio, it's television people can see what’s going on you don’t have to describe every single second of action.” Lawler goes on to say that Coach was excited about the prospect and under a lot of pressure. “One thing allot of people don’t realize is that Vince McMahon is right in your ear. He can talk to you at any given moment….I have witnessed Vince you know, I’m not going to say lambasting Coach on the air, but you just know that if you make the slightest mistake you know he’s right there to give it to you. Needless to say, there’s a lot of pressure.” -On the war of words between Hulk Hogan and Mick Foley, Lawler felt Foley “did exactly what he needed to do and more importantly what he wanted to do to be successful, as did Hogan. I think it’s ridiculous for those two guys to be arguing about ‘I did it right, and you did it wrong’. You’re talking about apples and oranges, two different characters. But they both had charisma.” Talk turns to the infamous Foley fall off the Hell in a Cell cage and Lawler claims to be as surprised as anyone at the incredible fall. He had no idea what Foley was planning on doing. “To me the more impressive fall was through the cage….he could have been killed or at least paralyzed. I don’t think that made Mick Foley. It was a culmination of things he did.” -The only other injury that was as traumatic as the Owen Hart death, was when Droz was paralyzed. King was there and held Droz’ hand when he was injured and Lawler told Drozdov not to worry that it was probably just a stinger. But Droz told him “No King, I’m paralyzed, I know it”. “We can only imagine what that could be like, especially someone like Droz, who was an athlete all his life…it’s almost like having your life taken away from you. It takes an amazing person a strong person to continue to go on after something like that.” Lawler agrees that it must be very hard for D’lo Brown as well. “You can’t just help but wonder if any little thing went differently in that match would things have been different?” Phantom brings up that Lawler is very lucky to never had a major injury in the thousands of matches he’s had over his career. Lawler just says he’s been very fortunate over the years, and that when he was younger he did crazy bumps and never even wore kneepads in his career. -Lawler mentions that he has a new girlfriend, and Phantom is happy for him. “You’re not as nearly as happy as I am,” Lawler says. It took him a long time to get back into a serious relationship after his difficult divorce. Lawler did a RAW show in Providence Rhode Island in January, “It’s tough to interact with any of the fans….I’ve been with the WWE since 1993 and have never met a girl at one of the shows….before the show ever started there was a young lady unfortunately with a guy, and we made eye contact and I became infatuated with her. Matter of fact I was paying so much attention to her…I wasn’t paying attention to the match and said to JR look at that chair shot, when someone hit someone else with a championship belt.” JR looked at Lawler with a questionable look, because Jerry didn’t want him to know he liked this girl, because “JR wants you to be focused…but I couldn’t help it.” During a commercial break Lawler mouthed to the girl, is that your boyfriend? And the girl shook her head no, to which Lawler then asked for her phone number. At another commercial break Lawler asked the floor director to get for a pen and paper, and the director’s response wa,s “Why you want me to get the number of that girl you’ve been looking at all night.” Lawler has been with her ever since, Sir Adam then starts to give Lawler hell for not going to the HHH bachelor party. “Don’t give me that ‘I’m not on the Smack down roster’, your new girlfriend won’t let you go.” Lawler confirmed Sir Adam’s belief, saying “I’ve been told by her I’m not allowed to go to the bachelor party.” 08/30/03 - Memphis Wrestling back online and in even Higher Quality! Insert from Book: Jerry Lawler is hailed as one of sports-entertainment's most enduring and colorful characters. His life has been filled with hilarious, never-been-told stories...until now! His reign consists of thirteen championships (one of which he's held more than forty times), three marriages, and two children. He's dominated Memphis radio and television airwaves. Starred in feature films. Recorded albums. Tolerated countless sprains, broken bones, concussions, and contusions. The way Jerry "The King" Lawler tells it, if you're good at something, do it more than once. It's Good to Be the King...Sometimes is a no-holds-barred personal account from the "puppies" -pantin' King of one-liners, who steps out from behind the announcer's desk of WWE Raw to hold court about everything. His passion for art that first drew him to the ring of a rundown West Memphis movie theater over thirty years ago. The comic adventures and tragic bumps endured journeying down the "Music Highway" of Interstate 40 with the National Wrestling Alliance. Earning his royal personage in the Bluff City of the Mighty Mississippi against his own mentor, "Fabulous" Jackie Fargo. Grappling with mat legends Ric Flair, Lou Thez, Jesse Ventura, Andre the Giant, Terry Funk, and Bret "Hitman" Hart. And his crowning achievements as co-ruler of the United States Wrestling Association, which contributed to the rise of future WWE Superstars Hulk Hogan, Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and the Rock. It's time you Lackeys pay heed as the King reveals the schemes and outrageous storylines to many of wrestling's most fantastic theatrics and all-too-real moments. Lawler tells of his legendary feud with Andy Kaufman, and his much-publicized confrontation with the actor portraying the late comedian on the set of Man on the Moon, and the "Karate-versus-Wrestling" match that almost occurred between Lawler and Memphis's other King. (Elvis) And be sure to honor his royal proclamations regarding former wives, and his mother's opinion of wrestling; why he once sued future boss Vince McMahon...and won; and the body part he truly worships on a WWE Diva. 10/25/02 - Another Update from Jerry Lawler 10/20/02 - King Releases another Update 10/18/02 - Smackdown in Memphis on 10/23/02 The King will be in the ring in his hometown in Memphis for Smackdown! He was 47 years old. He is best remembered for his Pro Wrestling days in Memphis, TN from the late 70's to the early 80's. He was one of the leaders of Jimmy Hart's "First Family of Professional Wrestling". When Jerry Lawler broke his leg in 1979 and was out of wrestling for nearly a year, probably the biggest comeback match in Memphis Wrestling history was his first match back against the Dream Machine. To this day I would rank the Dream Machine as giving one of the best interviews in the history of wrestling. He was one of my favorite wrestlers off all time! RIP -Alan Whitenton (Webmaster) 03/09/02 - King on the Weakest Link Jerry Lawler and 7 other WWF superstars were on the Weakest Link this past Sunday! King finished 3rd....not too bad! Kane wins! Lawler at one point took the bump down the bleachers. Tony DeVito beat Tim McNeany in the semi-main event after putting McNeany through a table with a moonsault. They brawled all over the building during the match. Also on the show: Mike Bell beat Kevin Landry to keep the heavyweight title.
